Half Price Bricks

About Us

Meet Apollo

I started Half Price Bricks in 2023, when I was just a fifth grader, because I wanted to make Legos more accessible to all kids. I have always loved Legos, starting with the Lego Duplos, and then progressing to more complex sets.

Legos are built to last and meant for play. However, as children grow up, the Legos often just end up sitting in storage bins, collecting dust and taking up space. My goal is to give those pre-loved Legos a second chance to inspire and delight a child. I want to encourage people to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, because those Legos can and should be loved by many other children.

There are many other places you can donate or resell Legos, but most of them don’t take the time to reassemble sets. Even though an assorted bag of bricks is great, it doesn’t give you the same experience of building a set, putting it together piece by piece, and getting a final product that resembles something from real life, a game, or something from television. Legos that are donated to Half Price Bricks are sorted and meticulously reassembled into whatever sets that we are able to identify through instruction manuals, special bricks, or minifigures.

I created Half Price Bricks to transform old, unused Legos sitting in storage bins into a newly packaged set that another child can fall in love with.

How I got started

In January of 2023, two neighbors donated multiple large tubs of Legos to get me started on my endeavor. It took me a while to come up with a system to sort them into categories, separate non-Legos, clean, and identify possible sets.
In February 2023, I officially registered Half Priced Bricks, LLC. Since then, I have been learning about bookkeeping, sales tax, Google Sheets skills, and much more. I have also had to work up the courage to go up to people and ask if they want to buy my product. My next steps will be learning about marketing, website development, and exploring other venues for sales.
